An important focus point for a successful RFID project is often to integrate data from the RFID system with other existing IT solutions.

In many cases RFID readers can be configured to sort and filter the readings and pass on the results. This may lead to the question: “where must the results go?” In some cases, one may want to create simple software to receive the RFID readings and write them in a database, making them available to other systems. In other cases, one wants to “catch” the RFID reading and write it into a text box in the existing ERP-system as is typically done with bar codes. In other situations, the best solution is to invest in a customized RFID system, which both uses data from existing systems, and also returns the data to ERP or similar systems.
